30,000 Rescues – SeaWorld and Supporters Reach Milestone
June 8, 2017
30,000 Rescues – that’s more than one rescue every day for over 50 years, and more than 4 rescues each and every day since 2010 alone!
This is a huge milestone for SeaWorld, it’s rescue and veterinary teams, supporters, rescue networks and everyone else who has played an important role in providing over 30,000 second chances (or sometimes third chances) at life.
We want to extend a special thanks to you, because you helped us get here. It’s people just like you, our supporters, our fans, our guests who continue to come to the parks, get inspired by the experience, then go out and try to make the world a better place. From ocean clean ups to eliminating the use plastic bags, it is people just like you that inspire us and protect the world and the animals that inhabit it.
For more than 50 years, the SeaWorld Rescue Teams have played a vital role in the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife in the United States. From emaciated sea lions found along the California coast (in some of the most unusual places) to cold-stunned manatees spotted in the waters of South Carolina, we’ve seen it all. The SeaWorld Rescue team is able to help these animals because they are on call 24/7, 365 Days a year.
While this number is big, this doesn’t mean that the SeaWorld Rescue team is planning on stopping anytime soon. For instance, yesterday the SeaWorld Rescue team helped return two rehabilitated manatees to Western waters of Florida.
From all of us here at SeaWorld, we could not be more proud of the animal care staff and SeaWorld Rescue Team, as well as all of you, and this monumental milestone of 30,000 animal rescues.
